- Developers can mobilize existing applications fast, using Domino Designer
Extending your existing Notes applications to mobile devices should be pretty straightforward, right? Not so fast.
Currently, developers must create XPage applications that BlackBerry end users access via the Web. Unfortunately, they inevitably experience problems such as slow performance, bad user interface, or an inability to use the app without a wireless connection. Often, they won’t use the application at all, because it’s too much of a hassle. So all the time and resources you spent on developing and mobilizing key applications is ultimately wasted.
Creating customized native applications can be a good option, but it can be expensive, and it can require learning a new development environment, which takes time your developers probably don’t have these days.

Unplugged... And Mobilized
Now there is an alternative: With Teamstudio Unplugged, your Notes developers can easily translate existing applications into native BlackBerry apps—without having to learn a new development language. In today’s mobile business environment, Teamstudio Unplugged provides an easy and efficient way to mobilize any existing Notes application.
No Connectivity? No Problem
With Unplugged, connectivity and bandwidth issues are greatly reduced, because Teamstudio Unplugged allows end users to access and store Notes applications directly on their BlackBerry devices. They can do their work on the BlackBerry—with or without connectivity—because Unplugged stores Notes databases and information on the BlackBerry itself. So end users can access data, such as customer or product information, from wherever they are; they can even do cross-database lookups. And, in case you were worried about all those databases slowing things down, Unplugged enables selective replication, so only the necessary data is stored on the device. In addition, there is no delay in loading pages or entering data, because they are no longer at the mercy of slow Internet download speeds. Unplugged makes completing forms or workflow processes, like approving requests or submitting expense reports, easy and seamless. Using the programmatic replication functionality, once an approval is given and they have connectivity, they can automatically replicate and get on with their day.
Notes Developers Already Have the Skills!
Leveraging Notes 8.5.1 and above, Teamstudio Unplugged enables your developers to add new XPages—which act as views and forms for their current data—to existing applications. This means that not only do the developers have control over what’s seen and accessed; the entire mobilization process is within their current skill set. Also, any future maintenance, such as added features or bug fixes, can be performed in-house, fast. And, because Teamstudio Unplugged helps developers build native applications, your end users can use familiar BlackBerry navigation instead of a pointer, so there is no more tricky maneuvering.
The Teamstudio Unplugged Advantage
Teamstudio Unplugged enables you to mobilize critical Notes applications quickly and easily. Your developers can leverage the skills they already have, and end users can enjoy access to their applications whenever and wherever they need them. Everybody wins!
