Teamstudio Validator Tool Tip

Creating a New Sub-view to Sort Errors by Type

You can create a sub-view in the Validator section of the Teamstudio Reports database to help you quickly find common errors.

To do so...

  1. Open the Teamstudio Reports database (reports.nsf) in Domino Designer.
  2. Create a new View based on the Wrong Field Type view. In this example, we have created a view called No Parent Doc to display orphaned documents.
  3. Set the new view location under the sub-view "By Error."
  4. Edit the Selection formula for the view to the following:
SELECT form="LINKREPORT" & frptLinkResult = "Parent document was not found"
  5. Save the view No Parent Doc and preview it in Notes.
  6. Now, when you run this report, you only see documents that have the "Parent document was not found" error.

You can double-click on an error and open it. Click the Remove Parent Reference to allow these orphaned docs to be displayed.

The following is a list of text literals you can use to customize your views:

  • Database was not found
  • Document/Note was not found
  • Fields inconsistency
  • Keyword field contains incorrect values
  • URL is invalid
  • Missing Dependency
  • Could not validate document with form
  • Orphaned agent data notes
  • Save/replication conflicts

Discovering and Resolving Save/Replication Conflicts with Teamstudio Validator

During the normal lifespan of databases, it is common for save/replication conflicts to appear. These conflicts can be difficult to detect, especially as the size and number of databases grow. Furthermore, once the conflicts have been identified, the differences between main document and conflict document aren't always obvious. As conflicts linger and accumulate, data integrity suffers.

Validator can solve these problems!

One can quickly glean from Validator's automated reports all of the save/replication conflicts within a database.

Further information and doclinks to both main and conflict documents can be found by drilling down into any of the conflicts.

Clicking on the "Launch Resolver" button will bring up the Resolver interface, which as of E23 comes bundled with Validator. With it actually fixing the save/replication conflicts becomes far easier.

Tracking down and stamping out save/replication conflicts is a snap with Teamstudio Validator!
