Teamstudio Design Manager: Tips and Tricks
Integrating other Teamstudio for Developers tools with Teamstudio Design Manager
As of Edition 19, Teamstudio Analyzer, Teamstudio Configurator, and Teamstudio CIAO! can be enabled for use within the Teamstudio Design Manager workspace.
As long as you have a license for the tools listed above, and you have installed them on your local client, you can enable them by selecting 'Integration Tools' menu in Design Manager. Then, simply select each tool you want to integrate and restart Design Manager.
Once the tools are enabled, you can use them in a batch-type mode to run them against multiple databases at once. For example, say you want to change a server name throughout several databases from within Design Manager-and you want to continue to use your Notes client while you're at it. You can use the following procedure to run Configurator against multiple databases at the same time:
- Launch Design Manager from a DOS prompt using the executable version nlibr.exe
- Open all the databases to run Configurator against in the database pane
- Launch Configurator from the Integration Tools Menu
- Set up and start your search and replace
- Configurator will now run in the background against the multiple databases

Recommended Features for New Teamstudio Design Manager Users
- Go into the Tools Set Copy History Log menu, and configure a reports database for Design Manager to log all users while they are actively using the tool. This reports database can become a source of useful information for monitoring changes to a database.
- Before performing a drag-and-drop from a library template, be sure to set the 'Inherit Design on Copy' feature in the Tools menu. The resulting element that was dragged into a working database will inherit its design from the originating source template.
